The Helping Hands Program is intended to assist elderly residents, veterans, disabled individuals, and families experiencing financial hardship throughout West Virginia's Northern Panhandle. Every request is reviewed individually based on need and available funding.

The program focuses on essential home repairs that improve safety and quality of life, including handrails, grab bars, leaky faucets, toilet repairs, smoke detectors, light fixtures, minor drywall repairs, steps, railings, gutter cleaning, and other small maintenance projects.

Projects are prioritized based on urgency, safety concerns, available funding, and scheduling. While we'd love to help everyone, resources are limited, so we focus first on repairs that have the greatest impact on keeping someone safe in their home.

Absolutely. If you know someone struggling to afford essential home repairs, you can submit a nomination through our website. Every nomination is reviewed with care and confidentiality.
